Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – Thirty-eight (38) voters had voted at the Gbawe-Bulemin Taxi Rank One Polling Stations as at 0848 hours in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

There were 552 registered voters on the register.

Ms Wilhelmina K. Boamah, the Presiding Officer, said voting started at 0745 hours and initially they had challenges with the Biometric Verification Device (BVD) as it was not capturing prospective voters fingerprints and took sometime before it started working as expected.

At Gbawe-Bulemin Taxi Rank Two Polling Station voting started at 0735 hours.

Mr Emmanuel Agyei, the Presiding Officer, said there were 546 voters on the register and 55 voters had cast their ballots as at 0902 hours.

He said they had not encountered any challenge as the BVD was working smoothly.

There were Veronica Bucket with liquid soap and tissue papers for prospective voters to wash their hands.

Prospective voters were wearing their nose masks and observing the social distancing rules.

There are six parliamentary candidates contesting in the constituency.

They are Tina Gifty Naa Ayele Mensah, New Patriotic Party(NPP) and the incumbent member of Parliament; Cleland Nii Ayaa Ayison, National Democratic Congress (NDC); Oromasis Nii Djaban, Ghana Union Movement (GUM); Saviour Kofi Gbedze, Convention People’s Party(CPP); Rita Dugah, All People’s Congress (APC); and Thomas Moon Junior, People’s National Convention (PNC).

There are two police officers and an Immigration Officer providing security at the polling stations.

New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) agents are stationed at the polling stations.
