     Hwidiem, (A/R), Dec. 7, GNA – Voting proceeded peacefully in the Asutifi South constituency of the Ahafo Region, identified as one of the major election hotspots in the region.

    During a visit by the GNA, there was relative peace at Hwidiem, the constituency capital.

     Two candidates, Alhaji Collins Dauda, the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP), and Mr. Yaw Owusu Brempong of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are vying for the parliamentary seat.

     A contingent of joint military and police personnel were patrolling the polling stations to maintain law and order and avert any possible violence.

     At the Dadiesoaba Methodist Primary ‘A” polling station with 648 eligible voters, only150 had cast their ballots as at 1030 hours, while at the CMB Depot polling station too, 98 out of the  594 registered voters had voted.

     The election officials were enforcing COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
