Takoradi, Dec 07, GNA – Voting started smoothly in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis with the strict observance of COVID-19 safety protocols.
Long queues started forming as early as 4am with some sitting on Jerry cans, stones and other object to queue.
Seats were however provided for some of them to ensure the compliance of social distancing.
At exactly 7.00am the first vote was cast at the Ketan JHS, while by 7.15am seven people had voted at the Methodist JHS, which had a voter population of 478.
At the Essawa Day nursery in the Kojokrom Electoral area, 13 out of 420 voters had cast their ballots as of 7.23am.
In the Sekondi Constituency the situation was not different as early as 5am people had queued with the elderly forming the majority.
Some of the voters said they wanted to cast their ballots early and get back home to rest and wait for the results, also some political party officials who could not participate in the special voting were among the early voters.
There is general calmness at the centres visited, security at post, COVID-19 Ambassador at post, all Electoral materials on time, voting on time with no incidents recorded so far.
