Kumasi, Dec. 07, GNA – Voters in the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region, have been voting in the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections under tight security.
There are a total of 101,798 registered voters in this area, the fifth highest voter population in the region.
It has traditionally been one of the flashpoints but so far, there has not been any reported confusion at any of the polling centres.
At the Aboabo M/A Primary ‘A’, 35 out of the 550 registered voters had successfully gone through the exercise, a little over two hours into the voting.
Sixty-eight (68) people had cast their ballot within the same time, at the Asawase Plantain House ‘A’, where there are 349 registered voters.
At the Aboabo Marisa Base, 41 people had voted. There are 383 registered voters at this Centre.
Mr. Atta Yeboah, the Presiding Officer at the Aboabo M/A Primary ‘A’ Centre, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that, except for the difficulty of getting the people to conform to the COVID-19 safety protocols, all had gone well.
